Doha - Qatar - 4 March 2023

Qatargas hosted Safety Day on 12, 13 February 2023 at its Barzan Gas Facility showcasing the company's health, safety, environment, and quality (HSE&Q) initiatives, achievements, and programmes.

The two-day event was attended by Qatargas Chief Executive Officer Khalid bin Khalifa Al Thani, members of the senior Management Leadership Team, a delegate from QatarEnergy, representatives from all shareholders, and employees of different departments and groups across the company.

First held in 2022, this annual event has now become a major opportunity to showcase Qatargas HSE&Q initiatives and invite shareholder participation. It brings the company's people together as one team to celebrate their commitment to an “Incident and Injury Free" workplace.

Commenting on the event, Khalid bin Khalifa Al Thani, Qatargas CEO, said: “Safety Day clearly highlights our unwavering commitment to a robust safety culture in Qatargas, and it is an opportune moment to demonstrate our established and emerging HSE initiatives that keep us at the forefront of the LNG industry."

Khalifa Ahmed Al-Sulaiti, Chief Health, Safety, Environment and Quality Officer, said: “Our annual Safety Day event plays a key role in focusing attention on the vital contributions our various HSE&Q functions perform to keep our people safe every single day. It is also an exceptional opportunity to bring everyone together as one team to celebrate our collective achievements, knowledge, and expertise."

The event this year drew a large crowd of over 1,000 visitors who had the opportunity to experience first-hand some of the most innovative and industry-leading safety achievements, initiatives, and programmes undertaken across Qatargas.

With engagement from all HSE&Q departments, over 40 attractions were showcased live during the event. They included a quality-themed escape room competition, a crisis management command centre experience using AI technology, live coral tanks exhibited by the Environment and Regulatory Department, offshore lifesaving equipment, fire truck and super-sucker truck displays, and a 360° video booth to capture the memories of the day.
